St Peter tells us that Jesus preached to gospel to the Old Testament saints so that they would be reconciled to God by the same redemption as New Testament believers (1st Peter 4:6). At that point their souls experienced a spiritual change-of-address, just as the Christian does at they time that they profess saving faith.
Their bodies, however, have not been raised yet. A future event called the resurrection of the dead will occur immediately prior to Christ's return. According to St Paul, we will be caught up to meet the Lord after this resurrection has taken place (1st Thessalonians 4:15-17).
As more baby-boomer Christians approach the end of their lives, the assurance of a resurrection from the dead will be an increasing source of comfort. Now it is time to revisit Paul's counsel to the Thessalonian Church to discover the true object of God's comfort.
Paul's acute knowledge of the End was based on three key sections of scripture. These verses reveal a hypothetical framework which is put to the test by examining Paul's Epistles concerning the end of time. Paul's chronology reveals the last enemy to be overcome is death. Learn how Paul employed his knowledge of Daniel Chapter 12 to comfort the Thessalonians. Find great comfort for today in God's promised resurrection of the dead.
Anyone interested in end-times prophecy will be rewarded by this little book.
